Mission Statement

The mission of the San Diego County Regional Occupational Program is to prepare a diverse population, 16 years of age and older, for further education, employment and occupational change.

Business Computer Applications (BACA)

Course Code: 461524

Description: This course provides entry-level, upgrade and advanced training in business and computer applications. Instruction may include units in the following areas: interpersonal employment skills and learning techniques, business practices, keyboarding, language arts, proofreading, business math, 10-key, machine transcription, reference materials, filing and records management, equipment operation, operating systems, word processing, electronic spreadsheets, databases, desktop publishing, presentation software, communications and advanced file management. Students use equipment which may include calculators, copiers, telephones, computers, printers and scanners.

Counseling Info: These courses are self-paced: hours for completion will vary based upon student's skills. Students may participate in on-the job training as a part of this course. Students must meet required course standards and obtain permission of the instructor prior to an on-the-job training assignment. Students must conform to dress codes and other standards required by the training site management.

Notes: This course meets Mountain Empire's Practical Arts elective requirement for graduation.

Course Length: 2 semesters, approximately 180 hours.

Credits: 5 per semester.
