Homework is assigned every day and must be available for checking during the next class meeting. Students are expected to do the homework on a nightly basis. Homework must be neat and organized, with the problems summarized and the work shown. Assignments are generally worth 5 point. Late homework will be charged 2 points for the first day and will receive no credit after that. There is no make-up on homework.
Opening Activities can be found in the box by the door, or written on the overhead. Students are expected to begin working by the time the bell rings. This means that supplies should be located and ready to begin. Opening activities are frequently timed and the time starts when the bell rings.
Pods are a group response activity. Each student has a remote control that records the student’s response. Since discussion is allowed, pod activities are great for assessing group understanding and for fine-tuning individual understanding.
A practice test is given before each test. Students have class time to work the problems, check their answers, and ask questions prior to taking the test. Tests missed due to excused absences: must be completed within 3 days of returning to class.
If a student is dissatisfied with a grade on a test, the student may re-study for the test. To exercise this option the retake must be taken in class, during lunch, within one week from the date the original test was handed back. The maximum grade on a re-take is 85%. If a student retakes a test, the second score will stand even if it is lower than the original.
